Midcentury Modern Avalon Teak Tallboy Chest of Drawers
A great example of a mid-century Avalon tallboy chest of drawers, constructed of teak and dating to the late 1960s, early 1970s. This very clean and well proportioned model shows a six drawer configuration, with the top drawer pulling out to reveal a compartmental interior with a simple but innovative flip up vanity mirror that folds flat, acting as a secret compartment for jewellery. Each dovetail jointed drawer retaining its original and timeless, concaved hardwood pull handles. All raised on softly curved, uncomplicated tapering supports. Displays good colour and grain throughout. Avalon makers badge still present at top drawer.
Solid teak & teak veneers.
Condition: Only minor wear commensurate with its age. Solid robust and fully functional. All drawers run smoothly & are exceptionally clean. Small loss at bottom overhang polished in. Photos sum up nicely.
In my opinion this tallboy chest is in superb order for its age. A clean example which has been very well looked after!
