A large & impressive Late 19th century French armoire - linen press wardrobe, constructed of Cuban mahogany, circa 1890. Late Victorian-Belle Époque period.

This exemplary statement piece exhibits an array of striking characteristics.

A bevel edged single door mirror of linear and curved form. An arched corniche pediment with sweeping moulded profile and neatly crafted dentil decoration.

Exquisite frontal periphery fluting with intricate and unobtrusive graduating carvings to upper cresting.

Raised on a gently curved and formed moulded base with subtle ornate design work, all sitting on short tapering, fluted front legs and continuous solid back sweeping supports.

The internally panelled arched door opens out to reveal a beautifully crafted & constructed, voluminous interior.

A central side by side, twin drawer configuration with original locks and key sit between substantial open shelving. A further full width drawer, again with original lock and key displays neatly at the base.

An absolute statement piece that dwarfs the completion in terms of stature, aesthetics and craftsmanship.

We have taken these pictures in situ of our lovely French clients magnificent home. This limits risk of damage and displays in its natural setting.

This piece comes with good, strong French provenance which we will share with all interested parties.

For ease of portability, the armoire- linen press breaks down into four manageable sections. The base and pediment separate and the mirror plate door simply lifts off of slide on hinges which leaves the main body (framework).
