An impressive Arts & Crafts sterling silver tea caddy by Charles Horner, Birmingham 1902, of substatial urn like oval form with a beautifully planished surface, distinctive applied flowing decoration and twin loop handles.
The design bears strong stylistic affinities with the progressive Arts and Crafts work associated with Liberty & Co. and designers such as Oliver Baker, whilst the hallmarks, Charles Horner sponsors mark and registered Design No. 397123 point towards Horner manufacture.
Weighing approximately 250gms/8 troy ounces and measuring 10cm high and 11cm wide, this is an unusually substantial and characterful example of, turn of the 20th century, British Arts & Crafts silver.
