A handsome late 19th century Victorian open library bookcase, constructed of mahogany and veneers. England, circa 1880-1890.
The bookcase exhibits a robust & adjustable shelving structure to accommodate for variable sized books and displays.
Key attributes and characteristics: Features a lightly convex and gadrooned, repeating banded apron sitting beneath a moulded cornice. Fluted columns with carved roundel rosettes. Heavy gauge solid shelving with a subtle concave to front edge. All crafted on a gently raised plinth base.
Displays a lovely patination throughout. Deep and rich medium oak in colour with shelving that edges toward ebony……..Beautiful!
Condition: Solid, robust & fully functional. Dings, marks or scars subtly polished in to retain its integrity. Historical repair to backboard. Overall superb!
